The city of Santa Fe is situated in the district of La Capital, administrative and governmental center of the province named alike.
Santa Fe has a population of almost half a million inhabitants (including neighboring localities); it is the third most populated province in our country, yet 52.6% of houses are under the line of poverty, situation which worsened after the floods that affected the city in April and May 2003 In response to this catastrophe, Habitat for Humanity Argentina (HPHA) decided to carry out a special project "Rebuilding Santa Fe, house by house". Through this fast response, 6 houses could be built for families who had lost everything at the flood. Thanks to the effort of local volunteers, this disaster response was consolidated in a Local Office which has already served many families in need of housing in Santa Fe, in the locality of Recreo and surroundings. |
