More than 60 percent of the members of HPHA's partner families are children who need to be helped during the time in which they move into a new home and environment.
In recognition of this fact, the Little Bricks Project was created. Volunteers work with the children at weekly meetings, providing a recreational and educational space to involve them in every aspect related to the construction, upkeep and appreciation of a house, underlining the right that every child has to a home.
Through these activities HPHA aims to:
- Strengthen ties between families, especially those who will be neighbors.
- Help children understand the reason for, and use of, each part of a house: kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom; and to learn about hygiene, privacy, etc.
- Pay attention to any particular need the children or their families may have.
